12/1/07 - New Feature - Rig of the MonthHey guys. We are going to start something we call "Rig of the Month". Basically, each month we're going to announce our favorite new rig that has recently been added to the site. This will be a good way to bring attention to any new rigs that we think are worth checking out. By the way, I have to mention the incredible response we have had to the site. We have already recieved a ton of gear information and requests. KEEP IT UP! After a brief hiatus, we're back with a new rig of the month. Jonny Buckland is the guitarist for Coldplay, one of the biggest bands in the world. With the release of "Viva la Vida", Buckland reestablises himself as a master of tone. The album shows great growth along with the familiar catchy licks. Some people love the band, some people don't, but we highly recommenend that you give new album a chance. One of the coolest parts of Buckland's rig page is a setlist from the X&Y tour, where you can see which effects he uses throughout the show. 
Nels Cline is just an amazing guitarist. Cline is known for his improv work and more recently his work with the alt-country/exerimental band Wilco. I recommend you check out some of his videos on YouTube, they will blow you away. His rig is also one of the more popular pages on our site, so check out what he uses to get his sound. 
The first "Rig of the Month" of the New Year is none other than The Mars Volta's inovative guitarist, Omar Rodriquez-Lopez. The former At the Drive-In guitarist is known for the unique sounds that he gets from his vast array of effect pedals. Check out his rig, it's pretty insane. 
I know what your saying, "Could they have been more predictable with their first 'Rig of the Month'." Stop hating. We've recieved a ton of information on his rig. We put the page up two weeks ago and it's already one of the most popular pages. We thought he would be a great pick for the first Rig of the Month, afterall, he is the reason why we all have 15 delay pedals on our board and run them all at once. The idea behind the website:
Why did we start this site? It's simple - it can be close to impossible to find complete information on what gear your favorite musicians use. There are bits of information here and there on the web, but we wanted to collect it all in one place and make it freely available to anyone who wants it.
Our Rig Database
We are building an exhaustive database of the gear that bands use. To see our database just click "The Rigs" at the top of the page. We have information on pedalboards, amps, guitars and more. Our site depends on the fans helping us build the collection. If you have any information that you don't see on this site please let us know here. In addition, you can request those hard to find rigs and if we can't find them ourselves then we will post the "5 Most Wanted" on the right side of this website for anyone who might have that information.
Building a Community: Our goal is to create a community of people who love gear and want to talk about it. We have set up a message board where you can talk about general topics like guitars, effects, amps and more. We are most excited about our specific forums for each musicians featured on the website. Every time we add a new musicians profile to our database, we then also add a forum section for that artist. In each forum you can discuss anything about the artist, like speculate what effects are being used on certain songs. We welcome you to join the discussion!
